INGLÉS ÁREA A SAN MARCOS EXAMEN RESUELTO INGRESO UNIVERSIDAD

READING
Isaac Newton was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, philosopher, and alchemist; who wrote the Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica (published 5 July 1687), where he described universal gravitation and, via his laws of motion, laid the groundwork for classical mechanics. Newton was the first to promulgate a set of natural laws that could govern both terrestrial (earthly) motion and celestial motion, he also developed Newton's law of cooling, describing the rate of cooling of objects when exposed to air; the binomial theorem in its entirety; and the principies of conservation of momentum and angular momentum. Finally, he studied the speed of sound in air, and voiced a theory of the origin of stars.
PREGUNTA 1 :
What is the topic of the reading?
A) Isaac Newton's scientific laws
B) Isaac Newton's biography
C) The different professions of Newton
D) Isaac Newton's law of cooling
E) The first scientific law of Newton
SOLUTIÓN :
Along the text, the author develops sorne of Isaac Newton's scientific laws.
Key : "A"
PREGUNTA 2 :
What is the contextual synonym of TO PROMULGA TE?
A) To subjugate
B) To hide
C) To establish
D) To replace
E) To build
SOLUTIÓN :
In the text , the verb TO PROMULGATE is the synonym of TO ESTABLISH, namely, Newton was the first to publish a set of natural laws that could govern both terrestrial (earthly) motion and celestial motion.
Key : "C"
PREGUNTA 3 :
lt is in ferred that sorne Newton's scientific works were
A) unpublished.
B) simple.
C) underestimate.
D) illegals.
E) absurd.
SOLUTIÓN :
Effectively, along the text, it is inferred that sorne Newton's scientific works were unpublished, for example: the laws that could govern both terrestrial (earthly)motion and celestial motion, the principiesof conservation of momentum and angular momentum, etc.
Key : "A"
PREGUNTA 4 :
lt is inconsistent with regard to Newton's occupations to affirm that he
A) was interestedin philosophy.
B) was a multifaceted intellectual.
C) ventured in severa! intellectual topics.
D) only developed the astronomy.
E) studied severa! sciences.
SOLUTIÓN :
According to the reading, the author maintains that Newton had severa! occupations, for example: philosophy, mathematics, alchemy, etc. Therefore, it is incongruous to say that he only developed the astronomy.
Key : "D"
PREGUNTA 5 :
lf Newton had devoted himself only to the alchemy, then
A) alchemy would be useful for all the modern sciences.
B) his scientific laws would not lose validity nowadays.
C) he would be considered the best alchemist of ali the times.
D) he would be considered the most eminent scientist.
A) many of his works would be criticizednowadays.
SOLUTIÓN :
We can notice, throughout the text, that Newton's works include various types of sciences such as astronomy and mathematics, namely, if Newton had devoted himself only to alchemy, then, many of his works would be criticized nowadays.
